CARNIVAL THEME WILL BRING COMIC CHARACTERS TO LIFE

Vernon, BC. On April 16th the Vernon Winter Carnival Board of Directors decided on the 2014 Winter Carnival theme; Carnival of Superheroes Presented by Fix Auto Collision will run February 7th - 16th, 2014.

"This year there were more than 40 theme suggestions from the community and there was deliberation over a number of different ideas. We are very excited to move forward and begin planning with the new theme," said executive director Brittany Sjoblom.

The Vernon Winter Carnival Society has announced that for the 54th annual event, Calvin Hoy as its new Chairman, succeeding Dave Fletcher who has retired after serving the Winter Carnival as Chairman for the past three years. "It has been a true privilege to be a part of such a great community event and work with some of the best volunteers. Thank you to everyone who
help make Winter Carnival the successful event that it is today," said Fletcher, past chairman.

"We have been under strong leadership for the past three years and are sad to see Dave go, but we thank him for his contribution and wish him all the best," said Calvin Hoy, Carnival chairman. Hoy has served as Vice Chairman for the past 5 years and is looking forward to another successful Carnival.

The Society's Annual General Meeting will be held in June. The Winter Carnival is seeking individuals interested joining the board of directors.
